Bainbridge Georgia Has Exemplary Healthcare Facilities
Bainbridge Georgia spares no expense when it comes to high quality healthcare facilities. Memorial Hospital is an 80-bed community hospital that is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). It is a non-profit organization owned and operated by the Hospital Authority of Bainbridge and Decatur County.
The Kirbo Women's Center was opened in 1998. The center is a state-of-the-art obstetrics and gynecology unit that includes eight private birthing suites, six private suites for other OB/GYN clients, and an operating room.
The hospital also has an emergency room staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A 10-bed intensive care unit offers bedside monitoring and critical care nursing services. Respiratory and Physical Therapy are offered on an outpatient and inpatient basis.
Memorial Manor is a 107-bed long-term care facility that combined with the hospital forms the centerpiece of Decatur County's health care structure.
Many specialists are on staff at the hospital and in the manor including urology, radiology, pediatrics, otolaryngology (ENT), orthopedics, ophthalmology, obstetrics, internal medicine, gynecology, general surgery, gastroenterology, family practice, emergency medicine, cardiology and anesthesiology.
The hospital is part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia/Georgia Commission's Rural Health Initiative, which is a unique collaboration between the public and private sector that uses telemedicine to link to Atlanta's Piedmont Hospital.
Through the use of high-speed telecommunications systems, computer technology and special medical cameras, patients located in Bainbridge are able to be examined, diagnosed and treated by Piedmont doctors. This pilot program, which will likely expand throughout rural Georgia, involves more than 20 medical specialities.
Additional medical services are offered throughout Decatur County. Port City Pulmonary Care, Inc. serves the home respiratory needs of Bainbridge and Decatur County. Willow Ridge provides a safe environment for older folks who made need personal assistance with their day-to-day living needs. Decatur County Senior Citizens Center provides activities for people who are 60 years old and older. Riverside Place is an assisted living community. And the Decatur County Health Department maintains several preventative medicine programs.
